Shae and Tanner’s Bok Tower Gardens engagement session in Lake Wales, Florida, was casual, genuine, and focused on their emotional connection. They wanted engagement photos outside, and when Shae shared her Pinterest board, it was clear what style they were looking for—less stiff posing, more movement. I guided them with simple prompts, kept them moving, and captured the candid in-between moments that show how close they are. If you’re looking for garden engagement photos that feel natural, this session is a great example.
Outdoor Engagement Photo Ideas—Shae & Tanner’s Vision
I first met Shae and Tanner at their wedding venue open house, and we clicked fast. They trusted my judgment, which made everything easy! They didn’t want anything too fancy—they wanted garden engagement photos that felt like them. Casual, comfortable, and close. I used movement prompts that created real reactions instead of “perfect” poses. I had them walk, spin, and talk to each other instead of looking at me the whole time.
Their outfit choices supported the casual vibe—mostly white tones, jeans for Tanner, and a skirt for Shae that moved beautifully as we walked through the gardens. If you’re collecting outdoor engagement photo ideas, this is the key: pick a location with variety, then move through it instead of staying in one spot.

Why Bok Tower Gardens Is One of the Best Engagement Photo Locations in Florida
Bok Tower Gardens is a go-to central Florida engagement photo location for a reason. It’s in Lake Wales, which is about an hour and a half from both Orlando and Tampa—so it’s an easy day trip from either side. (I also love photographing weddings at another Lake Wales location—Bella Cosa Lakeside. Check out my Bella Cosa weddings with Faith & Mason and Juliana and Orie!)
This garden photoshoot location gives you multiple looks in one place—open garden paths within Olmsted Gardens, fields filled with tall greenery, and iconic attractions like the Singing Tower. You get a mix of architectural and natural backdrops without driving anywhere! We visited all the iconic Bok Tower Gardens photo spots (and the nature paths that connect them) and came away with a wide variety of images that capture different emotions and vibes. This is one of those locations where you can keep the session casual and still end up with photos that feel elevated.

Singing Tower Photos
Of course, we had to capture some sweeping statement shots in front of the Singing Tower! This iconic 205-foot marble tower is a National Historic Landmark and it features a carillon made up of 60 bells plus tile mosaics, sculptures, carvings, and iron-work. It’s an architectural treasure and a memorable photo spot.

Olmsted Gardens Photos
During Shae and Tanner’s photoshoot, we wandered all around Olmsted Gardens, which is an informal woodland setting filled with peaceful spots, intimate nooks, and beautiful trees and flowers. It was even designated a Great Florida Birding Trail! This is the perfect setting for relaxed, nature-forward engagement photos. You can get a soft look—greenery, shaded paths, and quiet spaces for connection photos. There is also a beautiful 1930’s Mediterranean-style mansion called “El Retiro” on site with a beautiful lawn view.
